Prairiefolk is an Americana duo from Lindsborg, Kansas featuring Tyler Atkinson and Jesse Crawford. Though their sets include old time fiddle tunes, folk songs old and new, and even the occasional pop cover, they focus the bulk of their output on original numbers. Looking to the past for inspiration, they sing about the present with the earnestness of their folk forebears. With banjos, guitars, and brother harmonies, they reach for musical moods as sweeping as the plains—at times brooding as a nascent summer storm, at others tranquil as a Kansas sunset. Experiencing Prairiefolk live, you’ll hear murder ballads, reimagined biblical tales, and songs of lament about social ills, with no shortage of self-deprecating banter and terrible banjo jokes.
